Mercedes-Benz SLK first launched in 1996 is a compact luxury roadster from Mercedes Benz. The SLK (derived from sporty, light and short — in German) features an electrically retractable roof - the Vario Roof which in effect transforms the car from a roadster into a coupe. The model shown is the second generation (R171) which was available with optional features such as the 'AIRSCARF' neck level heating system which delivers warm air through the headrest. A unique 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission was also available as an option extra.
