Launched in 2000, the Vauxhall VX220 (aka Opel Speedster) is a lightweight British built mid-engined targa top 2 seater roadster built at the Lotus plant in Norfolk in a joint arrangement between Vauxhall and Lotus. Available as a normally aspirated 2.0, or a 2.2 litre turbo, which was able to reach a top speed of 150 mph and accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds. The car was critically acclaimed by the motoring press as a great drivers' car and won many awards, including Top Gear's Car of the Year in 2003.
